Creative Living Solutions

I have so many bags and purses. To be honest, I have too many. I see many of them as works of art. The problem is many don’t see the light of day after they’ve been purchased. Pre-pandemic I used a big bag that was a neutral color most days to go back and fourth to the office. It was easy and practical. Post pandemic I’m doing better because I have that “life is too short” feeling. I want to express myself more, so I switch my bags up on the rare occasions that I actually leave the house. I still have to decide what bag is large enough to carry what ever I need that day. When I was in my twenties I definitely got away with running around town all night with a tiny crossbody bag. I guess that’s something to explore at a different time.

I’m going to share some of my personal solutions as well as other creative ways I’ve found to use some of our favorite bags and purses so that they can still be seen and appreciated instead of sitting in the dark closet. All of these solutions will keep your bag in tack so that it’s ready to use when you need it.

Wall Art

I have a friend that displayed her bags on hooks on the wall of her bedroom. She arranged the display to look like art, not a store. Her bags had unique designs, like African, Indian, tribal prints, and beading. She didn’t have pictures of her wall but this one is similar.

Magazine/Book Holder

I bought this straw bag years ago. I think it’s so pretty but it’s more practical as a magazine/book holder. The structure is stiff so it stands up on it’s own. and it goes with my living decor.

Remote Storage

Have you ever purchased a tiny little bag, perhaps at a festival, only to find that your phone can’t even fit in it. Try using it as storage to your remotes. It can hang off the couch or sit on a coffee table.

Cable Management

I keep a lot of electronic devices bedside. I heard this is not healthy but it’s just how it is at the moment. All these devices need to charge and cables for a watch, a phone, etc. can look unsightly and get tangled. I wrap them up and store them and other charging accessories in this beautiful green purse under my bedside table.

Totes as Baskets

I have accumulated far too many free tote bags. A simple storage solution is to use the tote as a storage basket. If your tote bag is not attractive or covered in logos you can use a pillowcase to cover it which allows you to upcycle those spare pillowcases in the linen closet.

These are some of my storage solutions. Share your ideas with me.

Peace,

Sonya
